Given our experience in modelling, as well as in teaching,
research and consulting in the mining and water industries, we are pleased to offer to audit and/or review
the work of others.
Every modelling project is different, yet the fundamentals remain the same.
Good modelling starts with collection and analysis of data, and development of a conceptual model consistent with the data. This leads to consideration of modelling methods, choice of a method and particular modelling software, and implementation of a model using that software.
Model calibration and validation are followed by development of scenarios, predictions and subsequent sensitivity and/or uncertainty analysis.
While there are no specific standards for groundwater modelling in Australia or overseas, a groundwater flow modelling guideline (951 KB) developed for the Murray-Darling Basin Commission
is regularly quoted in groundwater modelling studies in Australia. NTEC Environmental Technology has developed particular expertise
at applying the methodology implied by this guideline, and reviewing the work of others against this guideline. A similar methodology can be applied to modelling studies of many kinds, not only to groundwater modelling.
If you have any questions, please ask.
